The Night Agent Unveils Season 2 First Look as Show Scores Early Season 3 Renewal
Buckle up, The Night Agent is coming back sooner than fans think — and with more episodes!
On Tuesday, Oct. 8 Netflix revealed that The Night Agent season 2 will hit Netflix in winter 2025. The announcement was accompanied by a series of first-look images, teasing the “danger” ahead.
Per an official synopsis for The Night Agent season 2, fans can expect to continue to follow “low level FBI Agent, Peter Sutherland, whose efforts to save The President in Season 1 earn him an opportunity to become a Night Agent in Season 2. But working in the secretive organization of Night Action will propel Peter into a world where danger is everywhere and trust is in short supply.”
The streamer also shared that ahead of the show’s sophomore season premiere, the high-energy espionage series has been renewed for a third season. According to a press release, the show’s third season will begin production in Istanbul in late 2024 and continue filming in New York in 2025.
Season 1 ended with Peter (Gabriel Basso) and Rose (Luciane Buchanan) saving President Michelle Travers (Kari Matchett) from an assassination attempt. However there wasn’t much closure for fans, as Peter is off on his first mission as a newly minted night agent, and Rose apparently remains behind.
“That’s one of the big questions we’d love to answer in Season 2,” Creator Shawn Ryan told Tudum about season 1’s ambiguous ending.
“What does Peter getting on this plane and going somewhere (presumably overseas to enter into some new wild adventure) mean, with Rose going back to California to try to pursue her Silicon Valley dreams again? We certainly have some initial ideas.”
Ryan previously revealed that each season will be a “self-contained story,” as per Deadline.
Basso and Buchanan will return for season 2 as FBI agent Peter Sutherland and tech entrepreneur Rose Larkin, respectively. Amanda Warren, Arienne Mandi, Louis Herthum and Berto Colon will join The Night Agent cast for the latest installment.
Additionally, Brittany Snow and Teddy Sears will also join in recurring roles.
The Netflix series’ first season was the most-watched series (by views) in 2023 and is the 7th most popular series of all time for the streamer.
During The Night Agent‘s first month on Netflix, it was no. 1 in the Global Top 10 for four weeks straight, so it’s safe to say fans have been clamoring for more for quite some time.
