All About Ja Morant’s Daughter, Kaari Jaidyn Morant

Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant’s daughter, Kaari Jaidyn Morant, has as much star power as him.

Despite her young age, Kaari is a familiar sight at basketball events, whether she’s cheering her dad on from her courtside seats or recreating his dance moves alongside the team. The recent Pre-K grad has also honed her post-game interview skills, echoing her father’s catchphrases.

When Kaari isn’t at a sports event, she’s modeling outfits for her dedicated Instagram following or going on fun outings with her mom, Kadre “KK” Dixon, to Disney’s Magic Kingdom. In particular, Kaari’s whole family gets together to celebrate her birthday with memorable themes.

Since her birth, Morant has taken moments to express his appreciation for his child, including a sweet shout-out on X (formerly Twitter) in November 2021. “Kaari was the best thing to ever happen to me 💕,” he wrote on the social media platform.

Here’s everything to know about Ja Morant’s daughter, Kaari Jaidyn Morant.

Morant and Dixon welcomed their first child together, daughter Kaari Jaidyn Morant, on Aug. 7, 2019.

In honor of her fifth birthday, they hosted a theme party inspired by her called Kaari-land.

“Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate and wished Kaari a happy birthday 🤍🤍 She had the best time!! Officially have a 5-year old… time flies!!” read an Instagram post from August 2024, featuring a photo of Morant and Dixon with Kaari.

To mark the occasion, Dixon also shared several more snaps on her own Instagram with a heartfelt message. “You light up every room, the greatest. My bestfriend, love you more than life!” she wrote.

She has an Instagram following

Kaari has her own Instagram profile, where her parents share moments from her life as an active child and daughter of an NBA star.

Since her page was first created, it has spotlighted different chapters, including of spending time with Morant when she was a baby to beach days with Dixon as a toddler.

As she’s grown, Kaari has expanded her horizons to exploring museums, the zoo and Disney World.

Kaari currently has over 190,000 followers keeping up with her spunk and style.

She is a fashionista

Kaari enjoys making a fashion statement, as evidenced by her Instagram or a glimpse of her at a Grizzlies game.

Over the years, her style has included matching mommy-daughter Nike sweatsuits, colorful Jordan tie-dye sets and sweaters from Off-White.

Most notably, Kaari has been spotted wearing a mini version of her dad’s Grizzlies jersey with his number 12 covered in sparkles.

“Always got his back,” read an Instagram post in April 2022, showcasing the duo’s outfits.

She loves to dance

Like her father, Kaari hits the Griddy after a basket — much to the delight of fans and Morant’s teammates.

When asked how she learned the dance, the athlete told ESPN it was from “her daddy.” He added, “She sees me do it all the time right after the game. She picked up on it quick, so I just let her rock out now.”

The youngster’s moves have gotten her noticed, and videos of her dancing after Grizzlies games have gone viral on TikTok.

Kaari has also taken dance classes and performed at her first recital in December 2022, donning a pink and white lace tutu.

She’s her dad’s biggest fan — and vice versa

Kaari is often courtside watching her dad play and is usually the first to congratulate him after a game.

In October 2022, the pair shared a post-game daddy-daughter moment: Kaari, in bright pink sneakers, ran up to Morant and gave him a high-five.

Morant is an equally big fan of his daughter. “Kaari, you’re the ONLY reason daddy is still going,” he wrote of their bond in a now-deleted Instagram. “You’re too young to understand but yeah 💙 I LOVE YOU.”

In her absence, Morant has also spoken about his child.

When Kaari turned 1, the professional basketball player had to miss the special occasion while he was in the NBA bubble isolating during the COVID-19 pandemic. He helped the Grizzlies earn a win in 2020 — a triumph he dedicated to his child.

“It was probably one of the toughest days of my life, not being able to be at my daughter’s first birthday party,” he told reporters, per ESPN. “It was kind of tough, but I think the gift I gave her today was a win. Hopefully, she’s thankful for that and all the gifts back at the house.”

She has aced the post-game interview

She may be only a few years old, but Kaari knows her way around a microphone. She has joined Morant for his post-game interviews — and chimed in with one of her dad’s catchphrases, according to Sports Illustrated.

After the Grizzlies beat the Houston Rockets in March 2023, Kaari leaned into the mic and proclaimed, “It’s a parade inside my city, yeah!”

She has an activity book with her cousin

Apart from sports and dance, Kaari is expanding her education through coloring, and she’s doing it alongside her cousin, Kree.

In February 2023, Kaari’s mom, Dixon, announced they collaborated on a coloring and activity book. According to its description, Kaari & Kree’s Ultimate Coloring & Activity Book is part of a series called Come Learn with Us.

“I wanted to create something for them that is as fun and creative as they are, while also fostering their reading and writing skills to help them become the strong leaders I know they’re capable of being,” Dixon wrote on Instagram.

She continued, “I wanted this book to show Kaari, Kree, and every kid that adventures with them that they are capable of accomplishing any goal they set for themselves, and to shoot for the stars. This book is very special to us, and I can’t wait for you all to join us on this rocket ship! 🤍.”
