Disney Channel Original Movies to Watch for Halloween

‘Under Wraps’ (1997)

The first-ever Disney Channel Original Movie, Under Wraps was released on Oct. 25, 1997, and starred Bill Fagerbakke as a mummy trying to reunite with his sarcophagus before the end of Halloween. With the help of a teenage Adam Wylie, Clara Bryant and Mario Yedidia, Fagerbakke’s monster — whom they’ve named “Harold” — must retrieve the coffin from Mr. Kubat (played by the late Ed Lauter).

‘Halloweentown’ (1998)

Halloweentown, one of Disney’s most beloved and notable holiday films, features Debbie Reynolds as Aggie Cromwell, the grandmother of Kimberly J. Brown’s Marnie Piper. On her 13th birthday, Marnie discovers she’s a witch and is transported to the film’s eponymous town against the wishes of her mother Gwen (played by Judith Hoag). There, she meets supernatural creatures living apart from the human world and helps her grandmother defeat “the bad thing.”

‘Don’t Look Under the Bed’ (1999)

Before she was on General Hospital, Erin Chambers had an encounter with the Boogeyman in Don’t Look Under the Bed. When pranks around town seem to frame her, Chambers’ Frances Bacon McCausland has to prove her innocence with the help of imaginary friend Larry Houdini (played by Ty Hodges).

‘Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge’ (2001)

Set two years after the first film, Halloweentown II sees Brown return as Marnie for another adventure into the magical town. Halloweentown’s ghosts, ghouls, witches and werewolves are afflicted by a spell that turns them into dull, black-and-white humans. Along with Reynolds as Aggie and Phillip Van Dyke as her goblin friend Luke, the three seek the cure to the mysterious “Grey Spell.”

‘Scream Team’ (2002)

After their grandfather dies, Ian Carlyle (Mark Rendall) and his sister Claire (Kat Dennings) discover his hometown is filled with spirits who refuse to cross over into the afterlife. When they find out their grandfather’s ghost has gone missing, the siblings have to hunt down a vengeful spirit to free him — with the help of the “Soul Patrol” Jumper (Tommy Davidson), Coffin Ed (Eric Idle) and Mariah (Kathy Najimy).

‘Halloweentown High’ (2004)

Brown, Hoag and Reynolds come back for a third installment of the popular Halloweentown series. Marnie tries persuading the Halloweentown Council to let the town’s supernatural children attend mortal high school. They agree under one stipulation: If anything goes wrong before midnight on Halloween, her entire family will lose their magical powers.

‘Twitches’ (2005)

Tia and Tamera Mowry star as long-lost twin sisters who are born on Halloween night and separated after their warlock father gives up his life to protect them from an evil entity. They are adopted into opposite lifestyles and grow up under different names. When they have a chance encounter in a clothing store, they begin to fulfill an ancient prophecy that foretells the defeat of The Darkness.

‘Return to Halloweentown’ (2006)

In the final installment of Halloweentown to date, Reynolds and Hoag reprise their roles as Aggie and Gwen, but Sara Paxton replaces Brown as protagonist Marnie. Lucas Grabeel also returns as Ethan Dalloway from the third movie with a larger role: Marnie’s love interest.

To Gwen’s dismay, Marnie decides to pursue a scholarship at Halloweentown’s Witch University, but she soon sees that the school is not what it seems — and that the Cromwell family has more secrets.

‘Twitches Too’ (2007)

The Mowry twins return to the land of Coventry for Twitches Too. In the sequel, they find out that their father — whom they thought to be dead — is still alive, and they travel to the Shadowlands to bring him back, all while facing off against a familiar foe.

‘Girl vs. Monster’ (2012)

Olivia Holt’s Skylar Lewis has monster hunter in her blood in Girl vs. Monster — but she doesn’t know it until she inadvertantly unleashes a monster that torments her on stage. As she overcomes her stage fright with earworm pop songs like “Had Me @ Hello” and “Fearless,” she also has to navigate her crush on Ryan (Luke Benward) and animosity from his ex Myra (Katherine McNamara).

‘Under Wraps’ (2021)

A remake of the 1997 film with the same characters, 2021’s Under Wraps stars Christian J. Simon, Malachi Barton and Sophia Hammons as the lead trio who have to dodge criminals to reunite their mummy friend Harold with his sarcophagus.

‘Under Wraps 2’ (2022)

The 2021 cast returned one year later for a sequel, which sees the group of three assist their mummy friends Harold and Rose to defeat an evil mummy named Sobek. At the same time, Hammons’ Amy tries to prepare for her father’s Halloween-themed wedding to his fiancé Carl.
